Genesis 19:26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
Step out of the denial and leave the past behind. When God says, “Don’t look back,” that’s what He means. It is good to remember the past, but we were never meant to live there.
Yes, our past brought us to the present, but the present is moving toward the future, not toward the past.
I think God is not opposed to us reminiscing here and there among old friends. I also think He isn’t opposed to us looking back on things we did wrong (because we did them in our own strength).
The Holy Spirit convicts us, revealing things for us to understand clearly so we may not repeat those mistakes in the future. The difference is, are you looking back to look ahead, or are you crippling yourself by remaining mired in the past and the things you did wrong?
Like most things, it’s all about where your heart and purpose lies. A pity party never does any good. However, reflecting on lessons God’s taught us by looking back in our past is fine, I believe. Just make it brief, and then, look ahead as you move on. My friend’s let me encourage you today to step out of denial from your past. Keep going and don’t look back. Remember that we are just passing through this life in order to arrive at our destination!
Everyone have a blessed day and may the peace of the LORD be with you.
